Bath, Bathe & Swim (Explained in Hindi & English)

Bath, Bathe & Swim (Explained in Hindi)

1. have a bath = नहाना; जैसे

I always have a bath or shower before going to bed.

NOTE-I: लेकिन जब हम SWIM करने की बात करते हैं तो हम कहते हैं ‘have a swim’ ‘have a dip’, or ‘have a bathe’ (not ‘have a bath’); जैसे

INCORRECT: We decided to have a bath in the hotel pool.
CORRECT: We decided to have a swim in the hotel pool.

NOTE-II: शुद्ध phrase ‘have a bath’ होता है, ‘take a bath’ नहीं. ‘Take a bath’  American English में कहा जाता है, जो India के exams में अशुद्ध माना जाता है; जैसे

INCORRECT: I always take a bath before going to bed.
CORRECT: I always have a bath before going to bed.

2. हम Bathe, Have/go for a bathe अथवा Go bathing  कहते हैं (NOT ‘get clean in a bath’); जैसे

It was the first time I’d bathed in that river

INCORRECT: Most nights when I come home, I’m too tired to bathe.
CORRECT: Most nights when I come home, I’m too tired to have a bath.
