Answer Key

1. C 2. D 3. C 4. D 5. D 6. A 7. D 8. A 9. C 10. C

Solution with explanation

1. Option ‘C’ (sharp). A sharp bend, corner or turn is one that changes direction  suddenly; e.g. I was approaching a fairly sharp bend that swept downhill to the left.

2. Option ‘D’ (into). Run into someone/something = to hit someone or something by accident while you are driving; e.g.

A truck ran into me (=hit my car) at the lights this morning.

4. Option ‘D’ (infuriated). INFURIATE = to make someone extremely angry, e.g.

His sexist attitude infuriates me.

7. Option ‘D’ (arrived). You can’t choose REACHED (option ‘C’) as it’s a transitive verb, hence takes an object directly, you see there is a preposition ON just after.
