Rules of DATE OF RECKONING OF AGE FOR SSC EXAMS (SSC की किसी परीक्षा में age की गणना किसी तिथि को होती है)

Rule of DATE OF RECKONING OF AGE FOR SSC EXAMS

According to the circular given below the crucial date for determining the age limits for competitive examinations held for recruitment by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) or UPSC like the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam, Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL) Exam,  SI Delhi Police and CPO Exam, Civil Services Exam (IAS) Exam), etc. in the first half of the year is the first day of January of the year in which the examination is held; and if the examination is held in the second half of the year, the crucial date will be the first day of August of the year in which the examination is held.

If an examination is held in two parts on two different dates of the year, the crucial date for determining the age limits will normally be the 1st of January when both parts of the examination fall in the first half of the year, and when both parts of the examination fall in the second half of the year the crucial date for determining the age limits will be the 1st of August .

It may sometimes happen that due to exigencies of the circumstances an examination, which is normally held during the first half of the year, is shifted to the second half. In such a case, the date of determining the age limits would still be the 1st of January.

I think the date of the reckoning of age will be 1st Jan itself because the DoPT rules also say that if an exam which USUALLY happens before the 30th June and when it’s postponed due to some exigencies the date remains the same. Though it will really be wise to send representation in maximum numbers. Read here the last para:

      Respected Sir,
I already go through this Orders & OMs issued by Dopt but i still have doubt coj ssc is always playing tricks form the last few years. Dats y i dont wanna take risk.
If we send representations regarding this matter to ssc well in time then it will be beneficial to us otherwise no one would hear us.

I do agree to sending representations in maximum number, and when such a query is there I’m always putting my point. But sorry I can’t agree that SSC has played any tricks in the recent past, it’s doing its job best. We have become so selfish that we start blaming right persons in our frustration!

    Respected Sir,
Sub- Reckoning date for calculation age for SSC CGLE-2015 must be 1 jan 2015

As per the revised schedule/calendar, ssc cgl 2015 will now be notified on 2nd May, 2015.According to DoPT guidelines, which are generally followed by the SSC stipulate that age limit and educational qualification should be reckoned as on 1st January of the year in which the Examination is notified if the First stage of the written examination is held before 30th June and as on 1st August if the first stage of the examination is held on or after 1st July. If the guidelines are followed, the innocent job aspirants who were born between 1st Jan 1988 and 31st July 1988 will become overaged for posts other than SI in CBI, Stat Investigator and AEO only because of the delay in the notification and then the exam. The same aspirants would be eligible if the there were no such delay. But now the situation is really worst. They will not be eligible for the same.
As I remembered, similar situation in CGL 2012, if my memory serves me right, when the Examination was notified in end March and the Tier I Examination was held on 1st and 8th July 2012. That time SSC obtained a special dispensation from the DoPT that age limit for this examination would be reckoned as on 1st January of the year as a special case. I hope the SSC is aware of this and will take similar action this time too . As there is a precedent, DoPT may agree to it.

We humbly request you to kindly look into the matter and keep the reckoning date as 1 jan 2015.

    Thanks,
