DoPT CLARIFICATIONS ON INTERVIEWS IN JOBS

Dated the 29th December, 2015

1. There will be no interviews for the following from 01.01.2016:

Group-C posts and non­ gazetted posts of Group ‘B’ Category and all such equivalent posts.

2. The ‘No Interview Requirement’ proposal has to be implemented for all the junior level posts in Government of India Ministries/Departments/attached Office/Subordinate Office/Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Undertakings.

3. All the advertisement for future vacancies will be without the Interview as part of the recruitment process.

4. The interviews will also be done away in cases where in the past the selections used to be made purely on the basis of performance in the interview. The Ministries/Departments/Organizations  will consider revising the scheme for selection for such cases.

5. It is also clarified that as Skill Test or Physical Test is different from Interview, and they may continue. However, these tests will only be of qualifying nature. Assessment will not be done on the basis of marks for such tests.

6. In case of specific posts where the Ministry/Departments wants to continue undertaking Interview as a process of recruitment; a detailed proposal seeking exemption will have to be sent to the DoPT with the approval of the Minister/Minister In-Charge.

PSU = Public Sector Undertaking

The government-owned corporations are termed as Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in India. In a PSU majority (51% or more) of the paid up share capital is held by central government or by any state government or partly by the central governments and partly by one or more state governments.

NOTES:
1. But here PSU means those falling under the central government only. PSUs of state is matter of respective state governments, so it’ll totally depend on a state government whether it discontinue interviews for jobs or not.

2. All nationalized banks and LIC etc are PSUs of the central government.

3. As LDC posts under PSUs are non-executive posts, there will not be interviews for this post. But interviews for bank PO, Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) will be conducted as before as they are EXECUTIVE posts.
