HOW TO FILL CGLE FORM

HOW TO FILL CGLE FORM

1. AADHAAR CARD NUMBER

Candidates are advised to give their Aadhaar Number in the Application Form for early redressal of their grievances, if any. However it is not mandatory to fill in the application form.

2. CAN I APPLY AGAIN

QUERY: I filled up the form but then some error happened OR
I’ve already applied but now I want to change the job preferences now. OR I made some mistake in tying date of birth, graduation marks or anything else; can I apply again?

Ans.
In case of multiple applications for on-line application, the last application for which part-I and part-II registration have been completed will be accepted. For example you applied first time and got registration ID: ABC1000. You applied again, after a few days and got registration ID: ABC5000. SSC will send you the admit card according to this second application. But you can’t apply from two or more regions at all.

3. Validity of Distance Education Degree?

QUERY:  I’ve done graduation from a postal/distance Education University. Is my degree valid for this SSC CGL exam?

Ans. Yes if your course. Degrees/diplomas/certificates including technical education degrees/diplomas awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act,1956 and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government provided they have been approved by the University Grants Commission.

4. Confusion in Job preferences

QUERY: Which job should I give first preference to?

Ans. Rule of thumbs are:

  1. Want uniform?:  Preventive officer (white), Excise inspector (Khakhi)
  2. Want adventure/risk?: CBI, Nacrotics, Preventive officer, Enforcement directorate. (although in real life it’s more stress than adventure.)
  3. Want peace of mind, family life, permanently settlement in Delhi: Assistant Section Officer (CSS) and Assistant post in certain ministries.
  4. Want posting in a foreign country: Assistant in Ministry of External affairs. Though at one’s wish he can live in Delhi for whole of the tenure in his job.

NOTE: Revised options for posts will not be taken at the time of document verification. The options exercised in the application form are final. Therefore, fill them with utmost care after you have known all about the posts.

SOME POINTS TO KNOW FOR FILLING POST PREFERENCES

GROUP-B V/s GROUP-C POSTS
Though there is some difference between these two types, it’s not very much important, and hence not to confuse yourself. For example EXCISE INSPECTOR is a group-B post while ITI group-C. But there is no difference in the grade pay, it’s 4,600 for all. So forgetting the groups just see the GP, not the group.

In post preferences one needs to know the GP, not the group. The difference in both the groups is really immaterial; sorry I don’t think a need to throw light on that difference because of its non-importance.

APPROPRIATE WAY OF CHOOSING ORDER OF POST PREFERENCES
Some aspirants are seen always in a hurry in filling the form, without a proper thought/importance been given to order of post preferences. The result is nothing but their repentance about choosing wrong order of posts. My advice is you should never be in that hurry; it’s totally unwanted as in SSC exams there is enough time for filling the form. It doesn’t mean you should wait till the last date. You should always try to know the various job profiles from a good source, medical/physical requirements needed, etc. For that 5-6-7 days are sufficient in my opinion.

Everybody has different likes and dislikes like place of posting, nature of work, physical/medical requirements, etc. Therefore post preferences should only be one’s individual issue. So try to know various job profiles, pros and cons of different posts, etc and decide your preferences of your own.

4. SECTIONAL CUT-OFFS in SSC exams
QUERY: Does SSC CGL exam have sectional cut-offs like in IBPS and RBI exams?

5. OBC creamy layer certificate
To claim OBC reservation benefit, you need two certificates i.e. the caste certificate and the creamy layer certificate. It should be in the format provided by SSC.

Name of OBC certificate; important thing to keep in mind
OBC Castes fall in two categories namely ‘State’s own list’ and ‘Central government’s list’;, which are different. To apply in SSC your caste MUST be in the central list.

For example, certain Chaudhari caste in Gujarat are in state backward list but not in the central backward list. Meaning, such person can claim reservation when applying for Gujarat University/GPSC but he cannot claim reservation when applying for IIM/UPSC/SSC/Banks.

ABOUT Non-Creamy layer certificate
Candidates claiming OBC status may note that certificate on creamy layer status should have been obtained according to the dates mentioned in the exam advt. This depends on the income/status of your PARENTS (this is clearly mentioned in page 10 of the official notification), means this doesn’t depend on your own job/business OR your husband’s job/business.

If your mom/dad is government employee then INCOME criteria doesn’t apply. (e.g. if dad is class3 employee, then it doesn’t matter whether he gets 6 lakhs or 7 lakhs. You’re still non-cream layer. If your parents have private business, then income criteria applies. (Max. 6 Lakh rupees annual income)

In short, make sure you’ve these certificates, else make trip to Tehsildar’s office/Collector Office/Jan-Seva Kendra and get the proper certificates. Otherwise, SSC will reject you at the last stage, during document verification and your entire year will be wasted for nothing.
