Now Common Eligibility Test (CET) in place of TIER-I for SSC
Subject: Setting up of National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct Common Eligibility Test (CET) for subordinate posts
Government has decided to set up a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) as an autonomous body to conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET). The CET will be held to shortlist candidates through a ONLINE TIER-I examination for the following types of posts:
TYPES OF POSTS FOR WHICH THE CET WILL BE HELD
1. Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts
[GST/Excise Inspector, Examiner, Preventive Officer, Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO), etc.]
2. Group ‘B’ Gazetted posts, which are exempted from consultation with UPSC
[Assistant Audit Officer (AAO), Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO), etc.]
3. Group ‘C’ posts in the Government
[Income Tax Inspector, Auditor, Tax Assistant, Jr Secretariat Assistant, etc.]
LEVELS FOR WHICH CET WILL BE HELD
NRA shall conduct a separate CET for these three levels to which recruitment is carried out by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and, by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS):
1. Graduate Level
[Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam, SI Delhi Police and CPO Exam, etc.
2. Higher Secondary (10+2) Level
[Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL) Exam, Stenographer Exam, etc)
3. Matric Level
(Multi Tasking Staff (MTS), etc]
NOTE-I: There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts to be taken by a candidate to appear in the CET.
NOTE-II: Relaxation in the upper age limit shall be given to candidates of SC /ST / OBC and other categories as per the extant policy of the Government.
NOTE-III: Based on the screening done at the CET score level, final selection for recruitment shall be made through separate specialised Tests/examinations, to be conducted by the respective recruitment agencies like the Staff Selection Commission, IBPS, etc.
