ACTIVE PASSIVE PRACTICE SET 6 SOLVED IN HINDI & ENGLISH (with options)
VIEW SOLUTION WITH EXPLANATION IN HINDI
1. People are not going to tolerate Government’s despotism.
Answer: A
Explanation: Option ‘A’ (Government’s despotism is not going to be tolerated by people.). Active Voice के वाक्य की संरचना Subject + Verb + infinitive + object है जहाँ पर subject PEOPLE है, verb ARE NOT GOING है, infinitive TO TOLERATE है, और object GOVERNMENT’S DEPOTISM है.
उपरोक्त संरचना वाले Active Voice के वाक्य को Passive Voice में बदलने के लिए infinitive (to + V1) का object Passive Voice के वाक्य का subject बना जाता है और infinitive की form passive form हो जाती है. Active Voice के वाक्य की verb Passive Voice वैसी की वैसी रहती है; जैसे
a) His colleagues started to respect Hari.
= Hari started to be respected by his colleagues.
b) People came to recognize her as the leading actress soon.
= She came to be recognized as the leading actress soon.
c) He is to do it.
= It is to be done by him.
d) Someone seems to have made a mistake.
= A mistake seems to have been made by someone.
e) I’m going to bring him here.
= He is going to be brought here by me.
NOTE: ऐसे प्रश्नवाचक (interrogative) वाक्यों का Passive voice
a) Why did your father refuse to give the money to you?
= Why was the money refused to be given to you by your father?
b) Why did the team captain hoped to select Jadeja?
= Why did Jadeja hoped to be selected by the team captain?
WARNING: Passive Voice का subject यदि कोई person नहीं है तो question word के साथ helping verb IS/WAS का use किया जाता है (पहले वाला वाक्य देखिये); और subject यदि कोई person है तो question word के साथ helping verb DO/DID का use किया जाता है (दूसरे वाला वाक्य देखिये).
2. They will say nothing more about the matter if someone returns the stolen gun.
Answer: C
3. If you cannot change the master, you cannot change the destiny.
Answer: D
4. We were made to work.
Answer: B
Explanation: Option ‘B’ (They made us work.). ध्यान दीजिये कि इस answer option ‘B’ में WORK को बिना TO के use किया गया है; अर्थात इसको bare infinitive के रूप में use किया गया है. कुछ verb ऐसी होती हैं जो Active Voice में जब वे main verb होती हैं तो उनके साथ bare infinitive (V1 without TO) use होती है; जैसे WATCH, LET etc. परन्तु Passive Voice में verb LET के अतिरिक्त full infinitive (TO + V1) लेती है.
5. You are supposed to know how to drive.
Answer: B
Explanation: Option ‘B’ (You should know how to drive.). Passive Voice में verb SUPPOSE के साथ यदि कोई infinitive (TO + V1) होती है तो इसका अर्थ होता है किसी व्यक्ति व्यक्ति द्वारा किसी कार्य की आशा रखना; और अतः ये verb SUPPOSE के सामन्य अर्थ कोई कल्पना करने से भिन्न होता है. ऐसे वाक्यों का Active Voice निम्न प्रकार से बनाया जता है:
a) It is your duty to know how to drive. OR You should know how to drive.
b) People suppose you know how to drive.
6. People said that he was jealous of her.
Answer: B
Explanation: Option ‘B’ (It was said that he was jealous of her.). Active Voice के वाक्य की verb (यहाँ SAID) के बाद THAT-CLAUSE का use है. SAID के अतरिक्त ऐसी ही कुछ और verb हैं: Feel, Believe, Consider, Know, Report, Understand, Suppose, Think. इन verbs के बाद जब THAT-CLAUSE का use हो तो Passive Voice निम्न प्रकार से बनाया जाता है:
It + Main clause की verb की passive form + That-Clause यूँ का यूँ
अथवा
That-Clause का subject + Main clause की verb की passive form + That-Clause की verb की infinitive form + दिया गया object/adjective
कुछ उदाहरण
a) People consider that Mohan is a fool.
= It is considered that Mohan is a fool.
= Mohan is considered to be a fool.
b) They say she will resign.
= It is said she will resign.
= She is said to be going to resign.
c) The public will learn with astonishment that war is imminent.
= It will be learned/learnt with astonishment that war is imminent.
= War will be learned/learnt to be imminent with astonishment.
NOTE: Sentence ‘b’ में verb SAY के बाद का clause वास्तव में THAT-CLAUSE ही है क्योंकि verb ASK के बाद THAT का use ऐच्छिक (optional) होता है.
7. Teachers should be respected.
Answer: D
8. He is supposed to have escaped disguised as a woman.
Answer: C
Explanation: Option ‘C’ (People suppose that he escaped disguised as a woman.). Passive Voice में verb SUPPOSE के साथ यदि कोई infinitive (TO + V1) होती है तो इसका अर्थ होता है किसी व्यक्ति व्यक्ति द्वारा किसी कार्य की आशा रखना; और अतः ये verb SUPPOSE के सामन्य अर्थ कोई कल्पना करने से भिन्न होता है. ऐसे वाक्यों का Active Voice निम्न प्रकार से बनाया जता है:
a) It is your duty to know how to drive. OR You should know how to drive.
b) People suppose you know how to drive.
9. What amused you?
Answer: C
Explanation: Option ‘C’ (By what were you amused?). Verb AMUSE एक प्रेरणार्थक (causative) verb है; अतः यहाँ preposition AT का use करना गलत है. BY के अतिरिक्त किसी और preposition का use तब किया जाता है जब verb कोई action ना होकर मस्तिष्क की कोई अवस्था (state of mind), कोई अनुभूति (feeling) अथवा कोई अन्य अवस्था situation) होती है. और इसी कारण से option ‘D’ अशुद्ध भी है.
कुछ उदाहरण:
a) I know her.
=She is known to me.
b) The boy’s work pleased the teacher.
= The teacher was pleased with the boy’s work.
10. Will those happy days be ever forgotten by me?
Answer: B
Explanation: Option ‘B’ (Shall I ever forget those happy days?). Option ‘A’ अशुद्ध है क्योंकि future tenses में I/WE के साथ SHALL का use किया जाता है WILL का नहीं.
