Error Finding CGL-22 Tier-I Selected Questions – Hindi Solution

1. The erroneous information/spread rapidly across the nation/and created a stir./NE

Explanation: No error

2. Our guests arrived; / they are sitting / in the garden./ NE

Explanation: Option ‘A’. Replace arrived by had arrived. Past time की घटनाओं का प्रभाव जब present time में दिखाया जाता है तो Present Perfect Tense का use किया जाता है; Past simple Tense का नहीं. क्योंकि मेहमान अब गार्डन में बैठे हुए है इसका तात्पर्य है कि मेहमानों का past time में आने का प्रभाव present time में दिखाया जा रहा है.

3. During an earthquake,/it is advised to take/cover above a table/to save your life./NE

Explanation: Option ‘C’. Replace above by under. Take cover = गोलाबारी अथवा किसी प्राकृतिक आपदा के समय कहीं छिपना/शरण लेना. स्पष्ट है कि कोई व्यक्ति ऐसी स्थिति में किसी वस्तु के ऊपर (above) तो छिपेगा नहीं; अतः यहाँ above के स्थान पर under की आवश्यकता है.

4. Pintu has been advised/to reduce smoking/by his family doctor./NE

Explanation: Option ‘B’. Replace reduce by cut down.

REDUCE = किसी वस्तु के आकार, धनराशी, महत्व, आदि को कम करना; जैसे

a) Do nuclear weapons really reduce the risk of war?
b) The plane reduced speed as it approached the airport.
c) My weight reduces when I stop eating sugar.
d) We bought a TV that was reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 350 in the sales.
e) I reduced the problem to a few simple questions.

CUT DOWN = किसी वस्तु के उपभोग की मात्रा कम करना; जैसे

The doctor advised him to cut down his working hours.

5. It would be impossible for them/to continue living in this world/if each of them knew exactly what fate had it store for the them./NE

Explanation: Option ‘C. Replace store by in store. Have in store एक idiom है जिसका अर्थ होता है ‘किसी के भविष्य में होने की बातों की सूचना; जैसे

We have a lot of fun activities in store for the kids at camp this summer.

दिए गये वाक्य का हिंदी में अनुवाद:

इस संसार में उनके लिए रहना जारी रखना असंभव होता अगर वे पहले से ही जान लेते कि वास्तव में उनके भाग्य में है क्या.

6. He used to reply/that the only place/for which he went/was the town library./NE

Explanation: Option ‘C’. Replace for by to. किसी स्थान पर जाने के लिए preposition TO का use किया जाता है; FOR का नहीं; जैसे

INCORRECT: I went for Mumbai yesterday.
CORRECT: I went to Mumbai yesterday.

7. Rajan is having /three brothers/and three sisters./NE

Explanation: Option ‘A’. Replace is having by has. यहाँ verb HAVE का अर्थ है ‘किसी वस्तु पर किसी का स्वामित्व होना; या उसके पास किसी वस्तु का होना (to possess/own). इस अर्थ में verb HAVE को continuous form में use नहीं किया जा सकता; जैसे

INCORRECT: I am having a lot of friends here.
CORRECT: I have a lot of friends here.

INCORRECT: Anita is having a headache.
CORRECT: Anita has a headache.

8. Has Gita any previous knowledge/of work/with junior colleagues?/NE

Explanation: Option ‘B’. Replace work by working. यहाँ हमारा तात्पर्य ‘ कार्य करने की सक्रियता’ (the activity of doing work) से है; खुद कार्य से नहीं; जैसे

INCORRECT: Our method of work involves one-to-one feedback.
CORRECT: Our method of working involves one-to-one feedback.

9. Rehan and Ronit are/good friends and /it don’t matter to them/as to who is wealthier./NE

Explanation: Option ‘C’. Replace don’t by doesn’t. IT के साथ verb की singular form use की जाती है.

10. The new shop that opened last week/are hardly sufficient stock of the products/ that it advertised about./NE

Explanation: Option ‘B’. Replace are hardly by hardly has or hardly had. इस वाक्य में इस बात की बात हो रही है कि नई दुकान में वो सामान है कि नहीं जिसके बारे में इसने प्रचार किया था. अतः verb ARE के स्थान पर verb HAVE use की जानी चाहिए.
