JOB NATURE OF ASSISTANT SECTION OFFICER (ASO) IN RAILWAY

Be it Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in Central Secretariat Services (CSS) or Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in Railway or Assistant Section Officer in any other department he has to do clerical work like noting, drafting, seeing various files, and does interpretation of rules and regulations, but in actual he is much above an LDC. His nature of work is generally refined. This post is equal to a HEAD CLERK in fact.

As I have learnt an Assistant Section Officer in Railway is posted at RAIL BHAWAN, Delhi only. An Assistant Section Officer in Railway gets some additional benefits like; a little over double of the bonus that the employees of other govt organisations get (around Rs 8,000 a year) and free All India Railway AC Pass/es. Also you might be getting some kind of benefits in Ticket Reservation etc. As far as promotion prospects here are concerned they might be a little slower than CSS.

An Assistant Section Officer in Railway gets 1 pass for family (to and fro) anywhere in India free and 3 passes for family (to and fro) in which he pays 1/3rd of the total amount of fare….all this is for tier-2 AC ticket. Then railway has its own railway homes all over India; so you can stay there at a very cheap rate if you are using railway passes.

AGE LIMIT
Age limit in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam of the Staff Selection Commission for this post is 20-30 years.
