MULTI TASKING SKILLS (MTS) JOB PROFILE

Selection to the post of Multi Tasking Skills (MTS) post is made through the Multi Tasking Skills (MTS) Exam, conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

MTS = Multi Tasking Staff is meant for 4th class posts like Peon, Waterman, Chowkidar, etc. Now they are part of group-C service with grade pay of Rs 1800 in the pay-band 5200-20800 (Pay Matrix Level 1). Before 6th pay commission it was group-D service, which now has been abolished.

In the 6th CPC he was entitled for the Grade Pay of Rs 1,800. Now in the 7th CPC he is entitled for the Basic Pay Rs 18,000 and comes under the level 1 of the following Pay Matrix Table.

JOB NATURE of MTS

According to DoPT O.M. No. No.AB-140171612009-Estt (RR) dated 30-04-2010 the duties of MTS would broadly include:

1. Physical Maintenance of records of the Section.

2. General cleanliness & upkeep of the Section/Unit.

3. Carrying of files & other papers within the building.

4. Photocopying, sending of FAX etc.

5. Other non-clerical work in the Section/Unit.

6. Assisting in routine office work like diary, despatch etc., including on computer

7. Delivering of dak (outside the building).

8. Watch & ward duties.

9. Opening & closing of rooms.

10. Cleaning of rooms.

11. Dusting of furniture etc.

12. Cleaning of building, fixtures etc

13. Work related to his ITI qualifications, if it exists.

14. Driving of vehicles, if in possession of valid driving licence.

15. Upkeep of parks, lawns, potted plants etc.

16. Any other work assigned by the superior authority.

MTS PROMOTIONS

The same promotions rules are liable as of any other central govt employee. Educational qualification etc as needed for further promotions. You can also be promoted through LIMITED DEPARTMENTAL EXAM, this is faster than usual promotions of course. The first promotion is for the post of LDC (Lower Division Clerk).

Without the departmental exam the promotion period is almost 10 year. You can take the departmental exam after completion of 3 year service as MTS and can directly become LDC.

 

AGE LIMIT

Age limit for these posts is 18-27 years.

NOTE-I: COLOURBLIND CANDIDATES ARE ALLOWED.

NOTE-II: It being Group-C service, a central govt employees servicing for 3 years continuously can take this exam upto 40 years for this post. For reserved categories add to it the usual age relaxation available to them.
