CGL EXAM: If one skips or fails to qualify CPT, will he be considered for other posts?

If one skips or fails to qualify CPT of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam, will he be considered for other posts of the exam?

REPLY

  • Of course If a candidate skips or fails to qualify the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for any post of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam, he will be considered for all other posts of the exam, but if fails in the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) of the CPT he will not be considered for the post of Tax Assistant (TA).

NOTE:

Computer proficiency test (CPT) has been prescribed as an essential qualification for the following posts:

  1. Assistants Section Officer (CSS)
  2. Assistant Section Officer (MEA)
  3. Assistant Section Officer (AFHQ)
  4. Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under M/o Corporate affairs
  5. Assistant (GSI) in M/o Mines
  6. Excise / GST Inspector
  7. Preventive Officer
  8. Examiner

The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) is held after declaration of the Tier-III result of the Combined Graduate Level Exam (CGLE). The Computer is provided by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), so you are not allowed to carry your own computer. You are also not allowed to carry your own keyboard.

Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) is of qualifying nature only, means marks scored in this test are not counted in preparing the final result. If you fail in the CPT you can’t be selected for the post for which it’s compulsory. However you’ll be considered for all other posts in this case.
