Job nature of LDC, STENOGRAPHER AND DEO

Selection to the post of LDC and Data Entry Operator is made through the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL) Exam, and the post of Stenographer is made through the Stenographers Exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

In the 6th CPC, LDC was entitled for the Grade Pay of Rs 1,900 and DEO for 2,400. Now in the 7th CPC, LDC is entitled for the Basic Pay Rs 19,900 and DEO for Basic Pay Rs 25,500, and they come under levels 2 and 4 of the following Pay Matrix Table respectively. Some posts of Stenographer come under the Pay Matrix Level 4 and some under 6.

LDC in Border Roads Organisation (BRO)

Persons with Disabilities are not eligible for any post in BRO.

NOTE: Requirement of Physical Standard, Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards for the post of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in BRO is given below. Candidates may ensure that they fulfill all the required standards before opting for any post in BRO. Posts once allocated as per merit-cum-preference given by the candidates will not be changed subsequently due to failure of the candidates to qualify in these Standards.

NOTE: As the “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” has come into force with effect from 19-04-2017 and new categories of disabilities such as Autism, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims, Muscular Dystrophy, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness and Multiple Disabilities, etc have been included.

Therefore, the candidates with such disabilities may also apply giving details of their disabilities in the online Application Form. However, their selection will be subject to identification of posts suitable for these categories as well as reporting of vacancies by the Indenting Departments. JOB NATURE

LDC (LOWER DIVISION CLERK)
An LDC is generally found in every office. He is supposed to do only the clerical work which is very very simple in nature like diary (receipt of documents), dispatch, making of salary bills of the staff, handling of various other documents etc.

DEO (DATA ENTRY OPERATOR)
His work is generally feeding of the various data in the computer in addition to doing some clerical work. They are in two GRADE PAYs 1,900 & 2,400.

STENOGRAPHER
A stenographer is mainly attached with a senior officer; who has to first write that officer’s speech in steno & then type the same. Some posts of Stenographer are in Grade Pay Rs 2,400 and some in 4,200).

1. Vacancies of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Stenographers Grade ‘D’ are in Ministries/Departments of Central Government, including their Attached/Subordinate offices located in States and Union Territories all over the country.

2. The posts of Stenographers are not identified suitable for Hearing Impaired persons.

 

Age Limit

Age limit for these posts is 18-27 years.

NOTE: All these being Group-C services, a central govt employees serving for 3 years continuously can take this exam up to 40 years for this post. For reserved categories add to it the usual age relaxation available to them.
