MAHA GUPTA
A can give B a 200 meter start and C a 300 meter start in a 1 km race

means A runs 1,000 meters while B runs (1,000 – 200) = 800 meters

A runs 1,000 meters while C runs (1,000 – 300) = 700 meters

Therefore B runs 800 meters while C runs 700 meters

But we have to find the start to be given by B to C in a 1 km race, so we have to know distance to be covered by C when B covers in 1,000 meters
From above B runs 800 meters while C runs 700 metersTherefore distance to be covered by C when B runs 1000 meters = (700/800)*1000 = 875 meters

So star to be given by B in a 1 km race = 1,000 – 875 = 125 meters (option ‘C’)
