TOOL, EQUIPMENT, DEVICE, APPLIANCE, INSTRUMENT, APPARATUS (EXPLAINED IN BOTH HINDI & ENGLISH)

Tool, Equipment, Device, Appliance, Instrument, Apparatus (EXPLAINED IN HINDI)

1. Tool

एक ऐसा उपकरण जिसे कुछ repair करने के लिए हाथों का प्रयोग किया जाता है; जैसे

Chisel Hammer Screwdriver Stapler Clamp
Multimeter Pliers Wire striper Tile cutter Lawn mower
Cable cutter Grinder Pipe cutter Saw

2. Equipment

किसी शौक अथवा किसी कार्य के लिए उद्देश्य विशेष हेतु आवश्यक tools, clothing, आदि का संग्रह; जैसे

office/camping/kitchen equipment; electrical equipment

sports/stereo/laboratory equipment

a) We need some new kitchen equipment.
b) They fix tractors and other farm equipment.
c) The photographer came early to set up his equipment.
d) I’m looking for a hobby that doesn’t require a lot of fancy equipment.
e) When I was a diver my equipment included mask, fins, tanks, regulator, watch, and knife.
f) A computer is the most important piece of equipment you will buy.
g) A good compass is an essential piece of equipment when you are hiking.

3. Device

i) किसी उद्देश्य विशेष के लिए आविष्कृत (invented) की गयी कोई वस्तु अथवा मशीन; जैसे 

a) Rescuers used a special device for finding people trapped in the collapsed
b) Her kitchen is equipped with labor-saving devices.
c) A GPS device can pinpoint your location anywhere in the world.
d) The terrorists said a nuclear device was set to go off sometime tomorrow in America.
e) The listening device was hidden under his collar.
f) We have a device that switches the lights on at a preset time in the evening.
g) b) He opened the communications device and touched two buttons on the flat control panel.
h) A mouse is a device that makes it easier to select different options from computer menus.
i) He invented a device for measuring very small distances exactly.
j) You should not use any personal electronic device, such as a cell phone, while driving.

ii) एक ऐसी मशीन जैसे कि फ़ोन अथवा कंप्यूटर जो इन्टरनेट से जोड़ने के लिए use की जा सकती है; जैसे 

a) You probably have a device, such as a smart phone, that has an Internet connection and a GPS.
b) You can stream music on your tablet or other mobile

4. Appliance

कोई device, मशीन अथवा उपकरण, खासतौर पर बिजली से चलने वाला, जिसका प्रयोग घरों में किया जाता है जैसे कि cooker or washing machine, stove, refrigerator, washing machine, vacuum cleaner; e.g.

a) Don’t ever plugin an electrical appliance with wet hands.
b) Are all of the kitchen appliances included in the price of the house?
c) We stock a wide range of domestic appliances, including fridges, freezers and dishwashers.
d) We recommend that an engineer services your gas appliance annually.
e) Modern appliances such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners and steam irons make housework easier.

5. Instrument

i) Piano, guitar, अथवा drum आदि जैसी वस्तुएं जो संगीत की ध्वनियाँ निकलने हेतु बजाई जाती हैं; जैसे 

a) Which instrument do you play?
b) The trumpet is a musical instrument.
c) Learning a musical instrument trains the mind.

ii) वस्तुएं खासतौर पर वे वाली जो बिना बिजली के काम में लायी जाती हैं, और जिनको किसी खास कार्य करने के लिए प्रयोग में लाया जाता है; जैसे  

a) A doctor’s instruments must be kept absolutely clean.
b) The thermometer is an instrument for measuring temperature.
c) My post-operative abdominal pain was caused by the surgeon leaving a surgical instrument inside me.
d) The man’s injuries had obviously been caused by a blunt instrument.

6. APPARATUS

वे मशीनें, औजार और उपकरण जिनकी किसी कार्य को करने में आवश्यकता होती है, मुख्य तौर पर Technical अथवा scientific कामों के लिए; जैसे

a) Dental apparatus
b) They were setting up the apparatus for the experiment.
c) The divers checked their breathing apparatus.

A piece of  equipment that you use with your hands to make or repair something; e.g.

Chisel Hammer Screwdriver Stapler Clamp

6. APPARATUS

The machines, tools, and equipment needed for doing something, especially something technical or scientific. It’s almost the same as equipment, but we use this term more formally; e.g.

a) Dental apparatus
b) They were setting up the apparatus for the experiment.
c) The divers checked their breathing apparatus.
