‘Lest’ का प्रयोग (Explained in Hindi)

Lest

‘Lest’ एक conjunction होता है. ‘Lest-clause’ में या तो main verb के साथ ‘should’ का use किया जाता है या फिर  सिर्फ main verb का. यदि सिर्फ main verb का use करना हो तो उसके साथ s/es का use नहीं किया जाता चाहे subject third person singular ही क्यों न हो; जैसे

a) He is anxious lest he should become ill.
= He is anxious lest he become ill.

b) She was worrying lest her daughter should be attacked.
= She was worrying lest her daughter be attacked.

INCORRECT: She is using headphones lest she disturbs anyone.
CORRECT: She is using headphones lest she disturb anyone.

Lest

‘Lest’ is a conjunction. It either takes ‘should’ with the verb, or the verb is without s/es even if the subject is third person singular; e.g.

a) He is anxious lest he should become ill.
= He is anxious lest he become ill.

b) She was worrying lest her daughter should be attacked.
= She was worrying lest her daughter be attacked.

INCORRECT: She is using headphones lest she disturbs anyone.
CORRECT: She is using headphones lest she disturb anyone.
